Indian authorities have banned the annual Gotmar festival, a centuries-old festival in which residents from rival Indian villages throw stones at each other.
The festival involved teams competing to capture a tree placed in a river running between the two villages while crowds throw rocks. The festival often resulted in leaving people dead or injured with last year's clash resulting in one death and more than 400 injured

This is just a theory, and it's probably wrong. If it were to involve gambling they would reinstate this tradition.
